Hey everyone,

Just a friendly reminder that the logo, invitation, and poster designs for our Industry Night are due tomorrow night 23:00pm. We have few submissions already, but the more people submit, the more choices we can pick from on Thursday’s meeting @ 1pm. Please feel free to email Julia, Cruz, or me for submission. ^^

Last week, we have decided the name of our Industry Night = Pixel8, and the tag line now is set to “Anything but squares“. Meeting minute is here.

Currently, Melody and Sam have already submitted their work, and I know Julia and Cruz are working on one as well.

General Update Aug 15

Hey everyone,

First of all, thanks to the people who came to the meetings this week! =)

Sholeh and couple other students from New Media Group are doing a promotional video piece to be presented in the Industry Night. Every student has 5-10 seconds to talk, we strongly encourage everyone in all 3 programs to take this chance to showcase your work and skills. If you want to be in part of the video, please let Nicky or Sholeh know by Tuesday August19th.

If you want to attend this year’s Industry Night, please notify your program rep by September 01 (New Meida: Nicky; Animation: Roman; Design Essential: Michelle and Sharon). Nicky will ask every rep for updates.

Theme Suggestions are urgently needed, please submit your suggestions online or email them to Nicky or your program reps by Tuesday Aug 19.

6 committees have their first meeting already, and the meeting summaries are listed below. (Detailed information please click and go to each post, thanks.) Next committee meetings will be posted later

Hi all,

Thanks for coming out to the meeting today!  ^^ Quite happy to see so many people at the meeting.

Below is the summary for today’s meeting. =)

Venue: Radical Entertainment, Judy will send the floorplan to Layout committee
- Set up time is about 3 hours before the event
- 2 people per table

BCIT will provide:
- 30 tables, cable to the table, no chair, big screens available

Themes: need to come up with at least 3 choices of themes before next meeting

Committees’ first meetings:
- Decide the chair for each
- Website would be up before sending out print invitation
- Karin and Paul will help out in Marketing Committee (Thanks to them ^^)
- BCIT will host the website, detailed needed for later
- Paul will send Print specs to Print Committee
- Paul will talk to Apple and Adobe for sponsorship

(print spec from Paul, Thanks! ^^)

Here are the technical specifications for the industry night print committee.

  • Assembly InDesign
  • Images 300 ppi
  • Size 9″ wide by 4″ tall, landscape orientation
  • Bleeds to be 1/8″
  • Front of invitation to contain imagery and text
  • Back of invitation divided into half with a split at the 5″ point. The back right of the card should be left fully blank ie White
  • BCIT logo MUST appear at the bottom right hand side of the invitation with a 3/8″ inset
  • I will provide the BCIT logo in Illustrator format
  • Final pdf file to be provided with all printers marks

When considering the design please ensure that any text is clearly readable. The invitations will have to have department approvals prior to printing.

This post is specially made for collecting the theme, name, and style of our Industry Night event.

Currently, I have collected a few from Web and Print committees, and more will come up later. =)
