Congrats, and Thank you!

Congratulations, October 2008 Digital Arts Graduates!

We’re done, and there you go, a brand new beginning right in front of you.

I, Nicky, was very proud to see everyone of you happily presenting your work, taking pictures with each other, and laughing.

It was great to be part of you, and you all did a great job in producing amazing pieces.

Here I want to specially thank Sholeh, Rosa, Sam, Sharon (from Design Essential), and many other helpers for doing so much to make this event so successful.  And the admins and teachers, thank you for giving us the space we needed, and replying so many emails from each one of us.

Thank you all, for coming to be part of Pixel8 Industry Night.

Good luck, everyone!

Pixel8Collective website will undergo a redesign, please stay tuned, and more info will come along the way.

You know how to contact me: emails(nickyhmtu@gmail.com), facebook(nicky Tu), my site (www.nickytu.com), skype, and phone… haha~

Let me know if you need my help. =)   Keep in touch.

Industry Night Preparation

Hey everyone,

Two days till our Industry Night, please read through this email in preparation of the night.

1. All students must arrive between 3:30 – 4pm on Thursday for setup.
2. Please check the Nicky’s pictures from last year’s Industry Night at Radical to see if you need extra light source.
3. Name/program tags will be provided and ready at your table, so please look for your table when arriving.
4. Students are suggested to bring your print portfolio, a laptop, and an extra monitor to display your work.
5. There is electricity for each table.  Even though internet is also available, please do prepare a back-up plan for all your online materials.
6. Bring lots of business cards, for your own table, and for a reception table.
7. Dress appropriately, and this time, talk to your potential employers instead of the students beside you. =)
8. Facebook event and group are created already, please help in promoting this event!

Nicky is in need for making display boards for the display area.  Sam is in making the New media board, and we still need inputs from Animation and Design Essential.  Sorry we cannot pull that off without you, and if nothing is heard from you by tonight 11pm, display section will be canceled or be like there will be only New Media one.  Program reps, please email Nicky ASAP with your contribution, it’s URGENT!

Thanks, and see you all on Thursday!

Apology

Due to many more students want to attend industry night, we have arranged to add more tables, and currently re-doing the seating plan.  Please bear with us, as the emails will be sent out asap.

Thanks.

Hey everyone,

Below is a list of people we have so far who will be attending Industry Night. People who are not on the list and still would like to attend, please email your program rep by Wednesday 12pm with:

  1. Correct email address which he/she can reach you
  2. Your full name and program
  3. Yes, you are going.

Animation program rep: “Roman Escobar” <R_Bar@hotmail.com>
Design Essential reps: “Michelle Cormack” <cormack3@telus.net>, “Sharon Chow” <schowa@gmail.com>
New Media rep: “Nicky Hong Min Tu” <nickyhmtu@gmail.com>,

Program reps, it is your responsibility to inform everyone in your program about all the information, having wrong email addresses cannot be an excuse for not able to reach everyone. Please email me (Nicky) with a list of people who wish to attend but not on the current list by Wednesday 8pm. Reps, you have 8 hours to submit the final list to me, this is the FINAL deadline.

Within this week, I will email everyone (admins, New Media students, and other two programs’ reps) about the things you need to do to prepare for Industry Night this week. Program reps please guide your fellow students, and all students please look for your reps for information, or look on the event planning blog.

Pixel8Collective website is up right now. Please check your information online, and bring more traffic to the site.

Thank you.

Hey everyone,

As you have known for at least a month, Sholeh and couple New Media students are doing the promotional video to play during Industry Night.  Tomorrow (Tuesday September 23) will be the last chance to film as we need time to do all the editing.

Filming time periods are 12pm – 1pm, and 4pm to 5pm.  Please have couple lines of what you want to say ready, and dress appropriately.

Thanks, and see you at either room 124 or 113.

Cheers,

nicky Tu

Pixel8Collective is up!

Hey everyone!

BCIT Digital Arts 2008 Industry Night – Pixel8Collective brochure site is up already!

Thanks to the Web Committee, and everyone who helped.  Please keep sending the profiles to Laurice, as the final version needs to be up by Thursday.

We will have a photo session Thursday after 5pm for people who do not have nice profile pictures; we will also film the promotional video at the same time; therefore, please dress appropriately. =P

Almost Time…

Wow, today is Sept 13th, a little more than one month till our Industry Night.

Planning process for the event is finally smoothly on its way.  No more arguing, no more unsettled vote, and no more pointing fingers.

Print committe has finished the design for Print Invitation, and Cheryl/Julia/Cruz will send the final design to Kenneth ASAP.  Thanks to our Email Committee, all company information has been confirmed, and once the spec for label is received, we will have the labels to send out the invitation.

Website Committee is collecting student information, please send your information to Laurice ASAP.  The brochure site is already online, and we will add the student information by next Thursday.  As mentioned before, this site will still function after the Industry Night as a link to each other and the employers.  After Industry Night, the website will be re-designed and more function will be added.  Please stay tuned.

Will have a marketing plan update from Sholeh and Rosa this weekend.

Layout committee will have the second meeting next Thursday 5pm @ room 113, committee members please find your tasks in the email I sent today (Saturday).

Thanks, and let’s keep rolling~ ^^

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for attending this afternoon’s meeting, and thanks to our creative designers for submitting so many designs.

Our domain name is www.Piexel8collective.com. The Print and Web committees are now working hard to get everything online and printed. Because of the time constrain, we will need everyone to vote on the blog. This should be an event which uses the logo and design we like, and we will feel proud and happy to be as part of this Industry Night.

Therefore, please take couple minutes, go to our planning blog, look at the designs, and cast your vote. The voting time will be Tuesday am to Wednesday midnight. In order to vote, please enter your first and last name correctly, enter a valid email address, and pick your favourite design.

For people who wants to modify the logo and create the design for invitation and poster, please submit all your designs by Monday 11pm. All designs should be in ONE PDF, each page within the PDF should contain only one item. Print specs are below or here. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, Julia, and Cruz. Email your final design to me (nicky), so I can post them up on the blog for the voting. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Email Cruz and Julia for the logo file to work with:
“Julia Williams” <weezerbrit@hotmail.com>,
“Cruz Rodriguez” <cruz@shaw.ca>,

Next meeting is Thursday September 4th, 1pm – 2pm, at room 113 again.

Thank you all for reading! =) Have a nice weekend.

-nicky
